  • By submitting fiction (short stories or flash fiction) and any accompanying artwork to Dark Harbor Magazine, you grant us first world electronic rights and archival rights, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
  • Rights revert to the author upon publication, though we retain the right to archive your work in our digital and print records.
  • Simultaneous submissions must be disclosed. If your work is accepted elsewhere, you must promptly withdraw it from our consideration.
  • You represent that all submissions are your original work (fiction and/or artwork) and do not infringe on any third-party rights.

4. Editorial Discretion

  • All acceptance and publication decisions are made by our editorial team.
  • We reserve the right to edit for clarity, style, and formatting, provided such changes do not materially alter the author’s intended meaning.
  • We may decline, remove, or retract content at our sole discretion.

5. Intellectual Property

  • All original magazine content (including fiction, artwork, website design, and branding) is owned by Dark Harbor Magazine and protected by copyright law.
  • You may not reproduce or redistribute content without written permission, except as allowed under fair use.
  • Contributors retain copyright to their individual works, subject to the rights granted to Dark Harbor Magazine under Section 3.

6. Subscriptions & Payments

  • Paid subscriptions provide access to premium content as described on our website.
  • All fees are non-refundable except where required by law.
  • We may change subscription rates or features with reasonable notice.

7. User Conduct

You agree not to:

  • Use the Services for unlawful, defamatory, or fraudulent purposes.
  • Interfere with the security or functionality of the Services.
  • Submit content that includes hate speech, plagiarism, or illegal material.
